The prerequisite, of course, is that 
the required framework can be 
provided. 
Important tasks lie ahead for the 
BSH in the next several years. They 
include investigations of the seabed 
and marine environment, adjustment 
and further development of its 
services to shipping and, via planning 
approvals for offshore energy produc 
tion facilities, an active contribution to 
reducing greenhouse gases. There is 
no doubt that, in order to shape our 
future using available resources, what 
matters is not only professional 
knowledge and expertise but each 
individual employee’s enthousiasm, 
commitment and willingness to learn 
and develop new skills. I am fully 
confident that our highly qualified and 
motivated staff will be up to meeting
