Übersicht 
Die Neueisbildung setzt sich im nördlichen Ostsee- 
raum fort. Im süd-westlichem Ostseeraum gibt es bei 
Temperaturen um den Gefrierpunkt herum nur wenig 
Veränderung in der Eissituation. Eisdicken schwan- 
ken zwischen wenigen cm in der westlichen und 
südlichen Ostsee und bis zu 25 cm im nördlichen 
Ostseeraum. 
Overview 
New ice formation continues in the northern 
regions of the Baltic Sea. In the south-western part 
of the Baltic Sea, temperatures vary around the 
ireezing point. Therefore, there are no major 
changes in the ice conditions. Ice thicknesses vary 
between few cm in the western and southern Baltic 
Sea and up to 40 cm in the norther regions of the 
Baltic Sea. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: The northern inner archipelagos 
are covered by fast ice with a thickness of 20-40 
2m. Off the fast ice, there is first compact, 10-30 cm 
thick ice, followed by very close, drifting ice and 
new ice. New ice formation is going on. In the inner 
archipelagos of the southern Bay of Bothnia, 10-20 
sm thick fast ice, thin level and new ice has formed, 
.n the outer archipelagos new ice is forming. 
Swedish Coast: In the archipelagos north of Piteä, 
10-30 cm thick level or fast ice occurs. Off this fast 
ice, there is very close drifting ice or 5-15 cm thick 
:evel ice. Along the ice edge there is a barrier of 
orash ice. In the inner archipelagos of the southern 
Bay of Bothnia, thin level and new ice has formed, 
in the outer archipelagos new ice is forming. 
Bottenwiek 
Finnische Küste: Die nördlichen inneren Schären 
sind mit 20-40 cm dickem Festeis bedeckt. Abseits 
davon befindet sich erst kompaktes, 10-30 cm di- 
ckes Eis, gefolgt von 5-20 cm dickem sehr dichtem, 
driftendem Eis und Neueis. Die Neueisbildung setzt 
sich weiter fort. In den inneren Schären der südli- 
chen Bottenwiek liegt 10-20 cm dickes Festeis, dün- 
ı1es ebenes Eis und Neueis, in den äußeren Schä- 
‚en bildet sich Neueis. 
Schwedische Küste: In den Schären nördlich von 
Pitea kommt 10-30 cm dickes Festeis oder ebenes 
Eis vor. Abseits davon kommt sehr dichtes driften- 
des Eis oder 5-15 cm dickes ebenes Eis vor. Entlang 
der Eiskante liegt ein Streifen aus Trümmereis. In 
den inneren Schären der südlichen Bottenwiek liegt 
dünnes ebenes Eis und Neueis, in den äußeren 
Schären bildet sich Neueis. 
Norra Kvarken 
In den Schären kommt 5-20 cm dickes Festeis und 
ebenes Eis vor. Abseits davon bildet sich Neueis. In 
der Nordvalen Passage tritt bis Sydostbrotten sehr 
offenes, dünnes driftendes Eis auf.

ice occurs. Farther out new ice is forming. In the 
Nordvalen passage to Sydostbrotten there is very 
open thin drift ice or open water.
