Information of the Icebreaker Services 
Finland 
Vessels bound for Finnish ports and requiring icebreaker assistance shall, well in advance of entering ice - 
covered waters, report to an icebreaker in accordance with instructions given in the daily ice report. In addi- 
tion, vessels bound for Gulf of Bothnia ports in which traffic restrictions apply shall, when passing Svenska 
3jörn, report their nationality, name, port of destination, ETA and speed to ICEINFO on VHF channel 84. 
This report can also be given directly by phone + 46 31 69 91 00. If required, due to the ice conditions, the 
position for reporting can be transferred farther to the south. 
Vessels in the Gulf of Finland of 300 GT or more are required to report to the GOFREP Traffic Centre. 
A vessel stuck in ice must notify the icebreaker of its position without delay. 
icebreaker: KONTIO and OTSO assist in the Bay of Bothnia. METEOR and PROTECTOR assist in the 
Northern and Central Lake Saimaa. ISO-PUKKI assists in the Southern Lake Saimaa and in the Saimaa 
Canal. 
Russia 
From 13" of January, tow boat-barges will not be assisted to St. Petersburg; vessels without ice class may 
ı1avigate with icebreaker assistance only. From 17" of January vessels without ice class may navigate to 
Primorsk with icebreaker assistance only. From 12" of January, tow boat-barges will not be assisted to 
Vyborg; vessels without ice class may navigate with icebreaker assistance only. From 13" of January, tow 
boat-barges will not be assisted to Vysotsk; vessels without ice class may navigate with icebreaker assis- 
tance only. From 20" of January, tow boat-barges will not be assisted to Ust-Luga; vessels without ice 
class may navigate with icebreaker assistance only. 
icebreaker: Several icebreakers assist vessels to the port of Vyborg, Vysotsk, Primorsk and St. Petersburg. 
Sweden 
Vessels bound for ports with traffic restrictions in Gulf of Bothnia shall, when passing Svenska Bjorn (59° 
33'N 20° 01'E) report to ICEINFO on VHF channel 84; Stating ATP, destination and ETA. 
Request for dirways can be send to iceinfo@sjofartsverket.se. 
Arrival report is to be made to ICEINFO, on VHF channel 16; Stating ATA, ETD and next port of call. 
Departure report is to be made to ICEINFO, on VHF channel 16; Stating ATD, next port of call and ETA. 
Icebreaker: ALE assists in the Bay of Bothnia.
