Saimaa: Im Saimaa Kanal liegt stellenweise mor- 
sches Eis und im Saimaa See treibt in meist offenem 
Wasser 10-35 cm dickes, morsches Eis. 
Sea of Bothnia 
Also at the coast mostly ice free. 
Gulf of Finland 
Saimaa: In the Saimaa Canal there is rotten ice in 
places and in the Lake Saimaa 10-35 cm thick, rot- 
ten ice is present in mainly open water. 
Expected Ice Development 
Expected temperatures in the Bay of Bothnia 
continue to be mositly above zero during day and 
below zero during night. The light to moderate 
winds are blowing predominantly out of northerly 
directions, so the ice will continue to drift towards 
the south and loosen up further.
