Übersicht 
in der Bottenwiek liegt in den Schären Festeis, das 
zum Teil morsch wird. Abseits davon treibt 20-75 cm 
dickes, zusammengeschobenes und aufgepresstes 
Eis bis etwa Nordstömsgrund-Pyhjoki. Im Eisfeld 
ı1aben sich Risse und kleine Rinnen gebildet. Weiter 
südlich kommt bis hin zu den Vaasa-Schären und im 
östlichen Finnischen Meerbusen nur noch in Küs- 
tennähe meist morsches Eis vor. Im Saimaa Kanal 
st nur noch wenig Eis vorhanden, daher wurden die 
Schifffahrtsbeschränkungen dort aufgehoben. 
Bottenwiek 
Finnische Küste: Die nördlichen Schären sind mit 
40-75 cm dickem Festeis bedeckt. Daran schließt 
sich 40-75 cm dickes, zusammengeschobenes und 
aufgepresstes Treibeis bis Kemi 2 und Oulu 5 an. 
Weiter südlich treibt dann 20-70 cm dickes, aufge- 
presstes, sehr dichtes Eis. Im Eisfeld haben sich 
Risse und kleine Rinnen gebildet. Die Eiskante ver- 
äuft ungefähr entlang Nordstömsgrund-Pyhjoki. Die 
südlichen Schären sind mit 25-45 cm dickem, mor- 
schem Festeis bedeckt. Abseits davon treiben stel- 
enweise Eisschollen. 
Schwedische Küste: In den nördlichen Schären 
kommt 30-70 cm dickes, morsches Festeis und in 
den südlichen Schären 25-50 cm dickes Eis vor. 
Abseits des nördlichen Festeises liegt 30-70 cm 
dickes, zusammengeschobenes Eis. Weiter südlich 
treibt sehr dichtes Eis, das mit Rissen versehen ist 
ind im Norden 30-50 cm, im Süden 15-40 cm dick 
st. Die Eiskante verläuft entlang Nygrän bis 9 sm 
südlich von Nahkiainen.

Overview 
In the Bay of Bothnia fast ice is present in the 
archipelagos, partly it is rottening. Off this ice, 
there is 20-75 cm consolidated and ridged drift ice 
Jp to about Nordstömsgrund-Pyhjoki. In the ice 
field many cracks and little leads have formed. 
Further south up to the Vaasa archipelagos and in 
Ihe eastern Gulf of Finland, ice, mostly rotten, is 
only present close to the coasts. In the Saimaa 
Canal only little ice is left and the restrictions for 
navigation have been canceled. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: The northern archipelagos are 
zovered by 40-75 cm thick fast ice. Farther out 40- 
75 cm consolidated and ridged drift ice follows up 
to about Kemi 2 and Oulu 5. Further south there is 
20-70 cm thick, ridged, very close drift ice. Cracks 
and little leads have formed in the ice field. The ice 
edge runs approximately along the line 
Nordstömsgrund- Pyhjoki. The southern archipela- 
Jos are covered by 25-45 cm thick, rottenen fast 
ıce. Farther out there are some drifting ice floes in 
places. 
Swedish Coast: In the northern archipelagos there 
s 30-70 cm thick rotten fast ice and in the southern 
archipelagos, 25-50 cm thick ice occurs. Off the 
northern fast ice edge there is 30-70 cm thick con- 
solidated ice. Further south there is very close drift 
ce with cracks, 30-50 cm thick in the north and 15- 
40 cm thick ice in the south. The ice edge runs 
from Nygrän to about 9 nm south of Nahkiainen.
