Norra Kvarken 
in den Schären von Vaasa liegt 30-45 cm dickes 
Festeis und nahe der schwedischen Küste 20-40 cm 
dickes, sehr dichtes Eis. Um Halmöarna herum treibt 
‚ockeres, 10-40 cm dickes Eis. Weiter außerhalb 
kommt überwiegend offenes Wasser vor. 
Bottensee 
Finnische Küste: In den Schären liegt 20-45 cm 
dickes, morsch werdendes Festeis. Weiter außerhalb 
st überwiegend offenes Wasser zu finden. 
Schwedische Küste: Entlang der Küste liegt im 
Norden 10-30 cm dickes dichtes bis sehr dichtes Eis 
Jnd im Süden 10-30 cm dickes, morsch werdendes 
Eis. Der Ängermanälven ist mit 20-40 cm dickem, 
ockerem bis sehr dichtem Eis bedeckt.

In the Vaasa archipelagos 30-45 cm thick fast ice 
occurs and close to the Swedish coast, there is 
very close 20-40 cm thick ice. Around Halmöarna 
open, 10-40 cm thick drift ice is present. Farther out 
there is mainly open water. 
Sea of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: In the archipelagos there is 20-45 
cm thick rottening fast ice. Farther out mainly open 
water can be found. 
Swedish coast: Along the northern coast, there is 
10-30 cm thick close to very close ice in sheltered 
areas. In the south, 10-30 cm thick, rottening ice 
accurs close to the coasts. The Ängermanälven is 
covered by 20-40 cm thick open to very close ice. 
Schärenmeer 
Finnische Küste: In den inneren Schären kommt 
stellenweise morsches Eis vor. Im Fahrwasser ist 
offenes Wasser zu finden. 
Schwedische Küste: Entlang der Küste findet man 
morsches Eis. 
Archipelago Sea 
Finnish Coast: In the inner archipelago there is 
rotten ice in places. In the fairways open water can 
oe found. 
Swedish coast: Rotten ice occurs along the coast. 
Finnischer Meerbusen 
Finnische Küste: In den inneren Schären kommt im 
Westen morsches und im Osten 20-35 cm dickes 
Festeis vor. In den äußeren Schären ist im Westen 
Überwiegend offenes Wasser zu finden. 
Russische Küste: Von den Häfen von St. Peters- 
burg bis zur Insel Kotlin kommt 15-25 cm dickes, 
dichtes Treibeis vor. Weiter außerhalb treibt bis zum 
Leuchtturm Shepelevskij 10-15 cm dickes, lockeres 
Eis. Die Wyborg Bucht ist an ihrem Ende mit 15-30 
cm dickem Festeis bedeckt. In der Einfahrt kommt 
sehr dichtes, 10-15 cm dickes Treibeis vor. Im Bijer- 
kesund und dessen Einfahrt treibt 10-20 cm dickes, 
sehr dichtes Eis. 
Rigaischer Meerbusen 
Estnische Küste: In der Pärnubucht treibt ein 
schmaler, sehr dichter Eisgürtel nahe der Küste. 
Mittlere und Nördliche Ostsee 
Mälarsee: Es treten morsches Eis und offenes 
Wasser auf. 
Gulf of Finland 
Finnish Coast: In the inner archipelagos rotten 
fast ice occurs in the western and 20-35 cm thick 
fast ice in the eastern part. In the outer archipela- 
gos there is mainly open water in the west. 
Russian Coast: From the harbours of St. Peters- 
burg up to the island Kotlin the sea is covered by 
15-25 cm thick close drift ice. Further out there is 
10-15 cm thick open drift ice up to the lighthouse 
Shepelevskij. The top of the Vyborg Bay is covered 
by 15-30 cm thick fast ice and the entrance by 10- 
15 cm thick very close ice. In the Strait Bjerkesund 
and its entrance, 10-20 cm thick very close drift ice 
is found. 
Gulf of Riga 
Estonian Coast: In the Pärnu Bay a narrow belt of 
very close drift ice occurs close to the coast. 
Central and Northern Baltic 
Lake Mälaren: There rotten ice and open water 
are present. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
In den nächsten Tagen liegen die Temperaturen in 
der ganzen Ostsee meist zwischen 0°C und 8°C, am 
Wochenende bis 12°C. Nur in der Bottenwiek und im 
Finnischen Meerbusen kann es nachts gelegentlich 
ıoch leichten Frost geben. Der Wind weht meist 
schwach bis mäßig zunächst aus südlichen 
Richtungen, zum Wochenende hin auch zeitweise 
aus nördlichen Richtungen. Die Eissitution wird sich 
daher vermutlich nur geringfügig verändern.

Expected Ice Development 
In the coming days temperatures will mainly vary 
between 0°C and 8°C, over the weekend up to 
12°C, in the entire Baltic Sea. Only in the Bay of 
Bothnia and in the Gulf of Finland light frost may 
dccur sporadically overnight. The wind blows 
mositly light to moderate at first predominantly from 
southern directions, over the weekend also from 
northern directions at times. Hence, the ice 
situation will certainly not change significantly.
