Übersicht 
in der nördlichen Bottenwiek liegt Festeis und dich- 
:es Eis, örtlich auch Neueis. Ansonsten kommt lo- 
ckeres Eis und Neueis vor. Von Norra Kvarken an 
südwärts bis zur nördlichen Ostsee liegt überwie- 
gend Festeis oder dichtes bis sehr dichtes Eis in den 
Schären, außerhalb kommt meist Neueis vor oder es 
st eisfrei. Im Finnischen Meerbusen kommt eben- 
‘alls Festeis und dichtes Eis in den Schären vor, und 
weiter außerhalb im Osten dichtes Eis, im Westen 
offenes Wasser oder eisfrei. Im Rigaischen Meerbu- 
sen und im Kurischen Haff kommt nur noch Resteis 
vor. 
Overview 
In the northern Bay of Bothnia there is fast ice and 
close to very close ice, in places also new ice. 
Else there is open ice and new ice. From Norra 
Kvarken to the northern Baltic Sea, there is mainly 
fast ice and close to very close ice in the 
archipelagos and further out new ice or ice free. 
The archipelagos of the Gulf of Finland are 
zovered by fast ice. Off this there is close ice in 
the east and open water or ice free in the west. In 
the Gulf of Riga and the Curonian Lagoon only 
some rest ice is present. 
Bottenwiek 
Finnische Küste: Die Schären sind mit 30-60 cm 
dickem Festeis bedeckt. Zwischen Kemi2 und Kemi1 
ijegt etwas Neueis. Daran schließt sich 20-40 cm 
dickes, sehr dichtes und aufgepresstes Treibeis bis 
8 sm südwestlich von Malören an. Stellenweise ist 
das Eisfeld schwer zu durchfahren. In der südlichen 
3ottenwiek liegt in den Schären 10-40 cm dickes 
Festeis. Außerhalb davon kommt 5-30 cm dickem 
Treibeis unterschiedlicher Konzentration und Neu- 
eis. 
Schwedische Küste: In den Schären kommt 25-60 
cm dickes Festeis vor. In der nördlichen Bottenwiek 
iegt überwiegend 15-40 cm dickes, sehr dichtes 
Treibeis mit Presseisrücken und Rissen. Zwischen 
Kemi1-Nordvastgrund-Bjornklack hat sich entlang 
der Festeiskante eine 5-15 sm breite Rinne gebildet, 
die mit Neueis bedeckt ist. Weiter südlich befindet 
sich zwischen Svalandsgrund bis 20 sm östlich von 
3juröklubb eine Fläche mit dichtem Eis, 10-30 cm 
dick. In der südlichen Bottenwiek liegt lockeres Eis 
Jnd Neueis. In der zentralen Bottenwiek ist offenes 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: The archipelagos are covered by 
fast ice with a thickness of 30-60 cm. Between 
Kemi 2 and Kemi 1 there is an area of thin new ice. 
Farther out there is 20-40 cm very close and ridged 
drift ice to about 8 nm southwest of Bothnia buoy. 
The ice field is difficult to force in places. In the 
southern Bay of Bothnia there is 10-40 cm thick 
fast ice in the archipelago. Farther out there is 5-30 
cm thick drift ice with varying concentration and 
1ew ice. 
Swedish Coast: In the archipelagos there is 25-60 
am thick fast ice. In the northern Bay of Bothnia 
there is mostly 15-40 cm thick very close drift ice 
with ridges and fractures. Between Kemi1- 
Nordvastgrund-Bjornklack a 5-15 nm wide lead has 
apened along the fast ice edge, covered with new 
:ce. Further south, a wide area with 10-30 cm close 
‘ce occurs between Svalandsgrund to 20 nm east 
of Bjuröklubb. In the southern part of the Bay of 
Bothnia, open ice or new ice occurs. In the central 
part of the Bay of Bothnia there is open water.
