Übersicht 
in der nördlichen Bottenwiek und in Norra Kvarken 
kommt Festeis und dichtes bis sehr dichtes Eis vor. 
In der zentralen Bottenwiek hat sich stellenweise 
Neueis gebildet. Weiter südlich liegt in den Schären 
nNeist Festeis oder ebenes Eis, in den äußeren 
Schären hat sich in der Bottensee Neueis gebildet. 
Im Finnischen Meerbusen liegt küstennah Festeis 
oder dichtes bis sehr dichtes Eis. Südlich vom Rigai- 
schen Meerbusen ist nur noch im Kurischem Haff 
etwas Eis zu finden. 
Bottenwiek 
Finnische Küste: Die Schären sind mit 30-60 cm 
dickem Festeis bedeckt. Daran schließt sich 20-40 
cm dickes, sehr dichtes Treibeis bis 8 sm südwest- 
‘ich von Malören an. Stellenweise ist das Eisfeld 
schwer zu durchfahren. In der südlichen Bottenwiek 
iegt in den Schären 25-45 cm dickes Festeis. Au- 
3erhalb davon kommt erst Neueis und offenes Was- 
ser, gefolgt von 10-40 cm dickem Treibeis unter- 
schiedlicher Konzentration und Neueis. 
Schwedische Küste: In den Schären kommt 25-60 
cm dickes Festeis vor. In der nördlichen Bottenwiek 
iegt überwiegend 15-40 cm dickes, sehr dichtes 
Treibeis mit Presseisrücken und Rissen. Zwischen 
Kemi1-Nordvastgrund-Bjornklack hat sich entlang 
der Festeiskante eine 2-10 sm breite Rinne gebildet. 
In der südlichen Bottenwiek befindet sich zwischen 
Svalandsgrund bis 2 sm östlich von Bjuröklubb eine 
Fläche mit dichtem Eis, 10-30 cm dick. In der zentra- 
en Bottenwiek ist offenes Wasser zu finden. 
Norra Kvarken 
in den Schären von Vaasa und nahe der schwedi- 
schen Küste liegt 20-40 cm dickes Festeis. Weiter 
Overview 
In the northern Bay of Bothnia and in Norra 
Kvarken there is fast ice and close to very close 
ce. In the central Bay of Bothnia new ice has 
formed in places. Further south, mainly fast ice 
and level ice is present in the inner and new ice in 
the outer archipelagos of the Sea of Bothnia. In 
Ihe Gulf of Finland, there is fast ice and close to 
very close ice next to the coasts. South of the Gulf 
of Riga there is only ice in the Curonian Lagoon. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: The archipelagos are covered by 
fast ice with a thickness of 30-60 cm. Farther out 
there is 20-40 cm very close drift ice to about 8 nm 
southwest of Bothnia buoy. The ice field is difficult 
1o force in places. In the southern Bay of Bothnia 
there is 25-45 cm thick fast ice in the archipelago. 
Farther out there is first new ice and open water, 
followed by 10-40 cm thick drift ice with varying 
Soncentration and new ice. 
5wedish Coast: In the archipelagos there is 25-60 
cm thick fast ice. In the northern Bay of Bothnia 
there is mostly 15-40 cm thick very close drift ice 
with ridges and fractures. Between Kemi1- 
Nordvastgrund-Bjornklack a 2-10 nm wide lead has 
apened along the fast ice edge. In the southern 
Bay of Bothnia, a wide area with 10-30 cm close 
‚ce occurs between Svalandsgrund to 2 nm east of 
Bjuröklubb. In the central part of the Bay of Bothnia 
there is open water. 
Norra Kvarken 
In the Vaasa archipelagos and close to the Swe- 
dish coast, 20-40 cm thick fast ice occurs. Further
