Übersicht 
In der nördlichen Bottenwiek, in den Vaasa Schären 
Ind im Finnischen Meerbusen sowie in geschützten 
3Zereichen ist kompaktes Eis und Festeis zu finden. 
Ansonsten kommt vielfach lockeres, örtlich auch 
dichtes Eis vor. 
Bottenwiek 
Finnische Küste: Die Schären sind mit 30-60 cm 
dickem Festeis bedeckt, daran schließt sich 20-45 
cm dickes, kompaktes und teilweise aufgepresstes 
Eis an. An der Kante des Eisfeldes hat sich eine 
Trümmereisbarriere gebildet die schwer zu durch- 
‘ahren ist. Weiter außerhalb treibt dünnes Eis. In der 
südlichen Bottenwiek liegt in den Schären 25-45 cm 
dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon kommt erst eine 2- 
10 sm breite Rinne mit sehr lockerem Eis, gefolgt 
von 10-30 cm dickem Eis unterschiedlicher Konzent- 
‚ation und dünnem ebenem Eis bis hin zu Norra 
<varken. 
Schwedische Küste: In den Schären kommt 20-55 
cm dickes Festeis vor. In der nördlichen Bottenwiek 
iegt überwiegend 15-40 cm dickes, sehr dichtes 
Treibeis mit Presseisrücken und Rissen. Weiter süd- 
ich kommt entlang der Küste von Borrusiagrund bis 
xage ein Gürtel mit dünnem ebenem Eis vor. Au- 
3erhalb davon treibt sehr lockeres Eis oder es ist 
offenes Wasser zu finden. In der südlichen und zent- 
‚alen Bottenwiek kommt eine große Fläche mit 10- 
30 cm dickem, teilweise aufgepresstem, lockerem 
bis dichtem Eis vor. 
Overview 
In the northern Bay of Bothnia, in the Vaasa 
archipelagoes and in the Gulf of Finland as well 
as in sheltered areas there is compact ice and 
fast ice. Else there is mostly open ice, in places 
also close ice. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: The archipelagos are covered by 
fast ice with a thickness of 30-60 cm. Off the fast 
ce there is 20-45 cm compact and partly rafted ice. 
At the edge of the ice field there is a brash ice bar- 
vier, which is difficult to force. Farther out there is 
thin drift ice. In the southern Bay of Bothnia there 
is 25-45 cm thick fast ice in the archipelago. Far- 
ther out there is first a 2-10 nm wide lead with very 
open ice followed by 10-30 cm thick ice with vary- 
:ng concentration and thin level ice up to the Quark. 
Swedish Coast: In the archipelagos there is 20-55 
cm thick fast ice. In the northern Bay of Bothnia 
there is mostly 15-40 cm thick very close drift ice 
with ridges and fractures. South of Farstugrunden a 
Delt with thin level ice occurs. Further out there is 
10-25 cm thick open to close drift ice. Further 
south, along the coast there is from Borrusiagrund 
to Kage a belt with thin level ice. Further out very 
open drift ice or open water occurs. In the southern 
and central Bay of Bothnia, a wide area with 10-30 
cm open or close and partly rafted ice is present. 
Norra Kvarken 
in den Schären von Vaasa und nahe der schwedi- 
schen Küste liegt 20-40 cm dickes Festeis. Weiter 
außerhalb kommt stellenweise 5-30 cm dickes
