Übersicht 
in der Bottenwiek liegt Festeis und sehr dichtes Eis. 
Auf der finnischen Seite reicht das bis in die Botten- 
see, auf der schwedischen Seite ist in der Bottensee 
ıur noch stellenweise Eis zu finden. Im nördlichen 
Teil des Finnischen Meerbusens sowie im Rigai- 
schen Meerbusen kommt in den Schären Festeis 
And außerhalb ebenes und sehr dichtes Eis vor. In 
der südlichen und westlichen Ostsee ist nur noch 
örtlich Eis zu finden. An der norwegischen Küste 
kommt in geschützten Bereichen noch stellenweise 
Eis vor. 
Bottenwiek 
Finnische Küste: Die Schären sind mit 30-55 cm 
dickem Festeis bedeckt, daran schließt sich 20-45 
cm dickes, kompaktes und teilweise aufgepresstes 
Eis an. Weiter außerhalb liegt sehr dichtes 10-35 cm 
dickes Eis. An der Eiskante hat sich eine Trüm- 
nereisbarriere gebildet, die schwer zu durchfahren 
st. In der südlichen Bottenwiek liegt in den Schären 
25-45 cm dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon kommt 
eine 2-10 sm breite Zone mit 10-25 cm dickem, sehr 
dichtem Eis, gefolgt von sehr lockerem Eis und 
\leueis vor. 
Schwedische Küste: In den Schären kommt 20-50 
cm dickes Festeis vor. In der nördlichen Bottenwiek 
iegt überwiegend 15-30 cm dickes, sehr dichtes Eis 
nit Presseisrücken und Rinnen. An der Eiskante hat 
sich eine feste Trümmereisbarriere gebildet. 
Norra Kvarken 
in den Schären von Vaasa liegt 15-40 cm dickes 
Festeis. Weiter außerhalb kommt 5-15 cm dickes, 
dichtes Eis bis westlich von Norra Gloppsten vor.

In the northern Bay of Bothnia there is fast ice and 
very close ice, along the Finnish coast up to the 
Sea of Bothnia. On the Swedish site, ice is only in 
places present in the Sea of Bothnia. In the 
1orthern part of the Gulf of Finland and in the Gulf 
of Riga fast ice is present in the archipelagos and 
some level and close ice outside. In the southern 
and western Baltic Sea, sea ice is only left in 
places. In sheltered areas along the Norwegian 
coast there is some ice in places. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: The archipelagos are covered by 
fast ice with a thickness of 30-55 cm. Off the fast 
ice there is 20-45 cm compact and partly rafted ice. 
Farther out there is very close ice, 10-35 cm thick 
ce. At the ice edge there is a brash ice barrier 
which is difficult to force. In the southern Bay of 
Bothnia there is 25-45 cm thick fast ice in the ar- 
zhipelago. Farther out, a 2-10 nm zone with 10-25 
cm thick very open ice and new ice is present. 
Swedish Coast: In the archipelagos there is 20-50 
m thick fast ice. In the northern Bay of Bothnia 
there is mostly 15-30 cm thick very close drift ice 
with ridges and fractures. At the ice edge a jJammed 
brash ice barrier occurs. 
Norra Kvarken 
In the Vaasa archipelagos 15-40 cm thick fast ice 
occurs. Further out there is 5-15 cm thick close ice 
up to west of Norra Gloppsten. From Nordvalen to 
the northeast there is thin close ice in places. West
