Übersicht 
In der Bottenwiek liegt 20-55 cm dickes, zum Teil 
aufgepresstes und schwer zu passierendes Eis. In 
der Bottensee und im nördlichen Teil des Finnischen 
ind Rigaischen Meerbusen kommt in den Schären 
Festeis und außerhalb dünnes Eis vor. In der süd- 
westlichen Ostsee ist das noch vorhandene Eis 
nNorsch. 
Bottenwiek 
Finnische Küste: Die Schären sind mit 30-55 cm 
dickem Festeis bedeckt, daran schließt sich 20-45 
cm dickes, sehr dichtes und teilweise aufgepresstes 
Eis an. Weiter außerhalb liegt sehr dichtes 10-35 cm 
dickes Eis. An der Eiskante hat sich eine Trüm- 
nereisbarriere gebildet die schwer zu durchfahren 
st. In der südlichen Bottenwiek liegt in den Schären 
25-45 cm dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon kommt 
eine 2-10 cm breite Zone mit 10-25 cm dickes, sehr 
dichtes Eis gefolgt von dünnem offenem Eis vor. 
Schwedische Küste: In den Schären kommt 20-50 
cm dickes Festeis vor. Außerhalb davon kommt 15- 
30 cm dickes sehr dichtes driftendes Eis mit Press- 
eisrücken und Rinnen. Südlich von Falkensgrund 
kommt erst offenes Wasser, westlich von Norstrom- 
grund-Bjuröklubb treibt ein Gürtel aus 15-30 cm 
dickem, lockerem bis sehr dichtem. Im südlichen Teil 
kommt stellenweise sehr lockeres Eis vor. 
Norra Kvarken 
in den Schären von Vaasa liegt 15-35 cm dickes 
Festeis. Weiter außerhalb kommt 5-15 cm dickes 
sehr dichtes Eis bis westlich von Norra Gloppsten 
vor. Nordöstlich von Nordvalen liegt dünnes lockeres 
Eis. In der Nordvalen Passage ist offenes Wasser zu 
finden; stellenweise tauchen aber auch sehr dichte 
Overview 
In the northern Bay of Bothnia there is 20-55 cm 
Ihick ice, in places ridged and hard to force. In the 
Sea of Bothnia and northern parts of the Gulf of 
Finland and the Gulf of Riga fast ice is present in 
Ihe archipelagos and some thin ice outside. In the 
south-western Baltic Sea, the sea ice still present 
in sheltered areas is very rotten. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: The archipelagos are covered by 
rast ice with a thickness of 30-55 cm. Off the fast 
:ce there is 20-45 cm very close to compact and 
partly rafted ice. Farther out there is very close ice, 
10-35 cm thick ice. At the ice edge there is a brash 
ice barrier difficult to force. In the southern Bay of 
Bothnia there is 25-45 cm thick fast ice in the ar- 
zhipelago. Farther out there is a 2-10 nm zone with 
10-25 cm thick very close ice. 
Swedish Coast: In the archipelagos there is 20-50 
cm thick fast ice. Of this ice there is mostly 15-30 
am thick very close drift ice with ridges and frac- 
tures. South of Falkensgrund there is first open wa- 
ter, west of Norstromgrund-Bjuröklubb there is a 
belt of 15-30 cm thick, open to close drifting ice. In 
the southern part at sea, there is an area with very 
open ice. 
Norra Kvarken 
in the Vaasa archipelagos 15-35 cm thick fast ice 
accurs. Further out there is 5-15 cm thick very 
close ice up to west of Norra Gloppsten. From 
Nordvalen to the northeast there is thin open ice. In 
the Nordvalen passage there is open drift ice as 
well as close ice fields in places. West of Holmoar-
