The ice season lasts 50 days on average in the Pomeranian Bay and about 70 days in Szczecin 
Lagoon. The average number of days with ice varies from 23 to 41 in the sea area and 
between 60 and 70 in the Lagoon. The minimum number of days with ice varies between 1 
day in the Pomeranian Bay to 21 days in Szczecin Lagoon. In extreme severe winters the sea 
area may be covered by ice for about 100 days and the area of Szczecin Lagoon up to 134 
days.
