into the Iberian Basin, we have undertaken hydro-
graphical and radiological investigations there,
Thereby, we confined ourselves, in 1966, to an area
in the region of the Iberia Abyssal Plain (42° N to
43° N and 14° W to 15° W), which was intended for
an initial trial dumping. Our further investigations
in 1968, 1970, and 1974 were concerned with the
Iberian Basin between the Bay of Biscay and the
Azores, and southwards as far as the latitude of
Gibraltar. However, the concentration of the measure-
ments continued to be in the region of the Iberia
Abyssal Plain (42°N to 43°N, 14°W to 15°W), where
a single trial dumping had taken place in 1967.
