The four volumes of the "Nautischer Funkdienst" and the volume "Sprech
funk für Küstenschiffahrt" received 12 Supplements. The following ap
peared as special prints for vessels which are not subject to specific
nautical regulations: "Verwendung der Wetterfunksprüche an Bord", the
Yacht Radio Services "Nord- und Ostsee" and "Mittelmeer", and the Table
"Wetter- und Warnfunk".
The "Nachrichten für Seefahrer" ("Notices to Mariners") was published
with a weekly issue of 3,400 copies, in which regularly the "Deckblätter
zum Leuchtfeuerverzeichnis" (Replacement Sheets for the List of Lights)
and reprints from the "Nautische Warnnachrichten" (Navigational War
nings) from the nav. areas I to IV of the World-wide Navigational War
ning Service (North Sea and Baltic Sea, Mediterranean, North Atlantic
Ocean, East and West Side) are enclosed. Further enclosures which ap
peared periodically were the "Liste der zeitweiligen Veränderungen zum
Leuchtfeuerverzeichnis", the "Liste der noch gültigen P- und T-Nachrich-
ten", and the "Liste der zur Berichtigung angezogenen Seekarten". As re
quired, replacement pages for the "List of Lights" were also enclosed.
As first and final special enclosures, the following were published:
"Erste Verordnung zur Änderung der Verordnung zur Seestraßenordnung",
"Liste der vom DHI baumustergeprüften und zugelassenen nautischen Anla
gen, Geräte und Instrumente", "Liste der vom DHI beauftragten Personen
und anerkannten Betriebe", "Vordrucke zur Meldung angeblicher Unzuläng
lichkeiten von Auffanganlagen für ölhaltigen Abfall", "Ansprüche der
Staaten auf Meereszonen".
The supervision of the implementation of the Navigational Warning Ser
vice was carried out.
By direction of the Federal Minister of Transport, the booklets "Sicher
heit in der Sportschiffahrt im Seebereich" (Safety in sport-boat naviga
tion on the seas) and "Verkehrsvorsehriften für Wasserfahrzeuge in der
Bundesrepublik Deutschland" (Navigation Regulations for vessels in the
Federal Republic of Germany) were published.
Several captains, ships' officers, and radio officers were awarded pri
zes of books in recognition of their admirable voluntary co-operation
with this Institute. In appreciation of his merits within the scope of
duties in the DHI, one captain was awarded the maritime medal in silver
donated by the Federal Minister of Transport.
The chart portfolio published 3 new charts, 112 new editions, 158 up
dated reprints, and 132 replacement pages. The chart supplies for
sports-boat navigation were extended by the issue of the Series No. 3012
"Ostfriesische Inseln von Wangerooge bis Borkum" (East Frisian Islands
from Wangerooge to Borkum).
The "Verzeichnis der nautischen Karten und Bücher" (List of nautical
charts and books) and the Chart 1 "Zeichen und Abkürzungen in den deut
schen Seekarten" (Symbols and abbreviations in the German nautical
charts) appeared as new edition.
In response to the suggestion of the chart users, charts of the Federal
German North Sea coast were published with a concentrated geographical
