information has been published in the Lon 
don and China Telegraph that the light 
is now exhibited. 
The light is a revolving white light, 
attaining its greatest brilliancy every mi 
nute, elevated 265 feet above the sea, and 
in clear weather should be seen from a distance 
of 23 miles. 
The illuminating apparatus is dioptric or 
by lenses, of the fiist order. 
The tower is 25 feet high. Position, lat.

Wnrrnanibool harbour 
The Colonial Government at Melbourne 
lias given Notice, that on or about the 1st 
day of May 1871, the following alterations 
will be made in the lights in Warrnambool 
harbour, Lady bay: — 
The light now exhibited on Middle island 
will be discontinued and the lighthouse re 
moved. 
Leading lights will be established on the 
sites of the obelisks, on the hill ridges im 
mediately in the front of the town of Warr 
nambool. 
The Upper light, exhibited from a tower, 
will be a fixed white light, elevated 1U9 feet 
above the sea, and in clear weather should 
be seen from a distance of 14 miles. 
The Lower light will be a fixed red 
and white light, elevated 87 feet above the 
sea, exhibited from the top of the present 
lower obelisk. 
The two lights in line, bearing N. */* E., 
will lead through the best water between the

Hafen IVarrnambool. 
Gegen den 1. Mai 1871 werden folgende 
Veränderungen in den Feuern im Hafen 
Warrnambool, Lady Bai, vorgenommen 
werden: 
Das Feuer auf der Insel Middle wird ge 
löscht und der Leuchtthurm entfernt. 
Uichtungsfeuer werden in der Gegend 
der Obelisken, auf dem Bergrücken unmittel 
bar vor der Stadt Warrnambool, errichtet. 
Das obere Feuer, in einem Thurm, wird 
fest, weiss, 109 Fuss über der Wasser 
fläche hoch und bei klarer Luft 14 Seem. 
weit sichtbar sein. 
Das untere Feuer wird fest, roth (und 
weiss?), 87 Fuss über der Wasserfläche 
hoch sein und auf der Spitze des gegen 
wärtigen niederen Obelisken angebracht. 
Diese beiden Feuer in einer Linie, in der 
Peilung N */4 ^ gehalten, führen durch das 
günstigste Fahrwasser zwischen der Fünf- 
Faden-Bank und den Untiefen nordwestlich 
davon.
