When Pharos tower is well open of Black 
rock the vessel will be clear of all dangers. 
The Mar abut Pass is 3 cables wide, 
and is marked by a stone beacon erected on 
the hills southward of Fort Marsa-el-kanat 
and a long white Horn mark in front of it. 
In beating through the pass, keep the 
beacon shut, in behind the Horn mark, which 
will give not less than 18 feet water. The 
beacon brought one quarter of the distance 
from the east towards the west knob of the 
Horn mark, bearing S.S.E., will lead through 
the channel in not less than 23 feet water.

The Colonial Government of New Zealand 
has given Notice, that all the buoys connec 
ted with Manukau harbour have recently been 
repaired and moored in their proper position; 
the red buoys and beacons being on the star 
board side, and the black buoys on the port 
side of the channel, going inwards. 
The Tranmere shoal buoy, black, is now 
moored in 4 fathoms at low water springs, 
close to the south-east point of the shoal, 
and mariners are cautioned to avoid the more
