Notice is hereby given, that a light-vessel, 
exhibiting a fixed white light illuminating 
the entire horizon, will be placed, on or 
about June 1, 1H7< >, in 37* fathoms water, 
near the southeastern extremity of the shoal 
making out from Benonis" Point, entrance to 
the Choptank river, to serve as a guide or 
leading mark for vessels bound up or down 
the river, and also as a guide to the channel 
between Castle Haven and Chlora Points, 
and into Tied Haven River and Fox’s Hole 
Creek anchorage, inside of Benonis’ Point Bar. 
The light will be shown from sunset to 
sunrise, at an elevation of 34 feet, and should 
be seen in clear weather from the deck of a 
vessel fifteen feet above the water, 10 nau 
tical miles. 
The vessel is 41 tons, new measurement, 
schooner rigged, hull painted lead color, 
masts white, with the words „Choptank 
River“ painted in large white letters on 
each side, and the number „25“ in white on 
the stern. 
A fog-bell and fog-horn will be sounded 
alternately during thick or foggy weather.

Le Commandant du Lamothe-Piquet a ex 
ploré une basse sur laquelle un bâtiment 
anglais a touché récemment et située à l’Est 
de file Chincha du Sud. Cette roche, sur 
laquelle il y a 3™ 80 de fond à mer basse, 
est située á 1,029 mètres au S. 7° U. de la 
pointe Est de lile Chincha du milieu, et à 
150 mètres au N. 40 ft E. du brisant situé à 
l’Est de l’île du Sud.
