A Timber Beacon Fifty Feet high has 
been erected by the European Commission of 
the Danube on the low sandy Strip of Coast 
between Lake Razem and the Sea, to the 
South West of the St. George's Mouth of the 
Danube. 
This Beacon bears W. 3° 0' S. from the St. 
George's Light House from which it is distant 
Twenty One Miles. 
To mark the St. George’s Shoal and Por- 
titza Anchorage between this Beacon and the 
Light House, Eight Buoys have been put 
down on the five fathom line of sundings 
running nearly due East and West. The first 
and eighth Buoys are painted Red the 
intermediate six Buoys, black: they are two 
and a half Miles apart. 
The East Red Buoy bears from St. George's 
Light House S. 6" O' W. distance 2*/« Miles. 
The West Red Buoy bears from the Bea 
con S. 32" 5' E. distance 4 1 /* Miles. 
The Bearings are all magnetic — the Miles 
all nautical.
