Alteration of Tipara floating

The Marine Board of South Australia has 
given notice, that on and after tin* 1st day 
of January 1870, the lights now exhibited 
from the light-vessel on Tipara reef, on the 
east side of Spencer gulf, will be replaced 
by a light-vessel exhibiting a fixed white 
light. 35 feet above the level of the sea, 
wnieh in clear weather should be seen from 
a distance of 10 miles, or when much re 
fraction exists from a distance of 13 miles.

Also that a rocky patch, having only 12 
feet water at low spring tides, has lately 
been discovered. This danger lies N. W. by 
\V. 14 miles from Tipara light-vessel, and Mari 
ners are hereby cautioned not to approach 
Tipara reef within the depth of 7 fathoms.
