ASSESSMENT 
The items quoted under this heading represent large-scale 
projects to investigate marine ecosystems which will result 
in an assessment study (as defined in Paper NSC (TF) (88) 3). 
These comprehensive interdisciplinary projects are cited as a 
whole,even though some subprojects could be classified as 
"research" or "monitoring", in order to give an idea of the in 
terdependent view of the projects. 
Wherever possible,or necessary, any relationship with other 
items is indicated. 
Furthermore, there also exist communications between different 
major projects such as "ZISCH", "TOSCH", "Tidal Elbe".
