nosen des BSH zu Umweltverschmutzungen tragen 
mit dazu bei, dass Bekämpfungsmaßnahmen so früh 
zeitig und effektiv wie möglich in die Wege geleitet 
werden können.

• Das BSH führte für das Havariekommando und für 
Ermittlungsbehörden 33 Drift- und Ausbreitungsprognosen 
zu Gewässerverunreinigungen durch. 
• Die Drift-Rückrechnungen wurden zudem für weitere 
Zwecke eingesetzt, u.a. für Seenotrettung sowie 
Simulationen zu Ermittlungen der Wasserschutzpolizei 
und Seeunfalluntersuchungen.

Das Meer ist heute mehr als nur Transportweg, Nah 
rungsquelle, Erholungsraum oder Rohstofflieferant. 
Immer stärker In das Blickfeld rücken die Meere bei 
der Nutzung von regenerativen Energien. Vor allem 
Offshore-Wlndenergleanlagen gelten wegen der 
höheren Stromausbeute als vielversprechend. Beim 
BSH, das in Deutschland über die Genehmigung sol 
cher Offshore-Windparkprojekte in der ausschließli-

Today, the oceans are more than just transport 
routes, food sources, recreational areas, or sources 
of raw materials. Attention has centred on them in 
connection with the use of renewable energies. 
Especially offshore wind farms are considered to 
have a high potential because they produce more 
electricity. The BSH, which Is the German Federal 
agency granting planning approvals for offshore wind 
farms in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), has 
received 32 applications for projects In the North Sea 
and Baltic Sea. Planning approval has to be granted 
for a particular project if it neither Impairs the safety 
of navigation nor poses a risk to the marine environment. 
In the Individual approval procedures, concerns of 
maritime transport and environmental protection as 
well as the interests of navy, fisheries, and other 
users, e.g. pipeline and submarine cable operators, 
are taken Into account - at times a difficult balancing 
act among competing targets. Every windfarm pro 
ject has to be reviewed individually, with Involvement 
of all stakeholders, to decide on the potential envi 
ronmental impacts to be investigated in each case. 
The BSH, In co-operation with external experts, has 
developed standards for environmental assessments
