wind farms, laying of submarine 
pipelines, and marine biotechnology 
have sparked a broad public debate

For successful and balanced co 
ordination of all commercial and 
conservation Interests, it has been 
found necessary to develop an 
integrated, future-oriented spatial 
planning concept, for which a 
sound geospatial data base is 
indispensable. Both marine spatial 
planning and the measurement, 
recording, and evaluation of marine 
data are core tasks of the BSH. Fast 
and standardised access to marine 
geospatial data has been gaining In 
importance, also on an International 
level.

wurden 2007 erteilt: ein Projekt 
35 km nördlich von Rügen so 
wie vier Projekte in der Nordsee 
(2 Vorhaben nördlich Borkum so 
wie 2 Vorhaben 25 km nördlich 
Helgoland); 
2 Genehmigungen zur Verlegung 
stromführender Kabel zur Netzan 
bindung von Windparkprojekten; 
Fortsetzung der Genehmigungsver 
fahren für den Bau der geplanten 
Gaspipeline von Russland durch 
die Ostsee nach Deutschland 
(Nord Stream), u. a. Beginn der 
Öffentlichkeitsbeteiligung mit 
ersten Projektunterlagen. 
In Deutschland beruht die Energie 
versorgung überwiegend auf den 
fossilen Energieträgern Erdöl, Gas 
und Kohle. Für einen am Nachhaltig 
keitsgrundsatz orientierten Energiemix 
soll der Anteil erneuerbarer Energien 
deutlich erhöht werden, unter 
anderem durch Windparks auf dem 
Meer. Das BSH entscheidet über die 
Genehmigung von Offshore-Anlagen 
in der deutschen Ausschließlichen 
Wirtschaftszone (AWZ) von Nord- und 
Ostsee. 20 Windparkprojekte mit über 
1400 Windrädern wurden bis 2007 
genehmigt, davon 17 In der Nordsee 
und drei in der Ostsee. Auch Pipelines 
für die Gas- und Ölversorgung 
spielen In der nordeuropäischen 
Infrastruktur eine wichtige Rolle. Für 
die Genehmigung solcher Rohr 
leitungen, beispielsweise für die 
Ostsee-Gaspipeline, ist das BSH In 
der AWZ ebenfalls zuständig.
