ren. Dies ist der deutsche Beitrag für das globale 
Ozean-Beobachtungsprogramm ARGO, das 
bessere Aussagen über Klimaveränderungen 
und ihre Auswirkungen im Meer ermöglichen 
soll. Insgesamt werden 140 der weltweit einge 
setzten 3200 Tiefendrifter vom BSH betreut.

In the North Atlantic Ocean, the BSH deploys 
autonomous deep drifters which record oceano 
graphic profiles down to 2,000 m water depth. It 
is the German contribution to the global ocean 
observing programme “ARGO”, which is ex 
pected to provide more reliable data on climate 
changes and their impacts in the ocean. The 
BSH operates 140 of the 3,200 deep drifters 
deployed worldwide.
