marine environmental protection require a high 
level of reliability and special expertise. In view 
of the shipping industry’s current economic 
situation, such international conventions have 
to be implemented with caution but without ne 
glecting the vital issues of maritime safety and 
environmental protection. 
The BSH’s employees can be rightly proud 
to have a part in these important tasks. Their 
knowledge and expertise, and their daily 
commitment, are at the roots of the services 
we provide to essential branches of industry 
and constitute the foundation of our support for 
state-of-the-art, future-oriented technologies 
and, last but not least, marine environmental 
protection and maritime safety - in close 
co-operation with our partners in the Waterways 
and Shipping authorities and in other agencies, 
associations and organisations. 
Ein zentrales Anliegen ist mir daher, das BSH 
an die ständig wachsenden Anforderungen
