In internationalen Gremien setzt das BSH durch 
seine Mitarbeit Akzente, um gemeinsam mit 
anderen Staaten einheitliche Standards festzu 
legen und frühzeitig Einfluss auf neue tech 
nische Entwicklungen für Schiffssicherheit und 
Umweltüberwachung zu nehmen. Durch die 
enge Zusammenarbeit auf internationaler und 
nationaler Ebene lassen sich Synergieeffekte 
optimal nutzen, Erfahrungen austauschen und 
gut funktionierende Netzwerke bilden.

The BSH is a member in international organi 
sations, where it co-operates with other states 
to establish uniform international standards 
and takes an active part, at an early stage, in 
the development of technical innovations in the 
fields of navigational safety and environmental 
monitoring. Close co-operation within these 
organisations ensures optimum use of synergy 
effects, regular exchange of experience, and 
the establishment of functioning networks.

Das BSH vertritt Deutschland in der Interna 
tionalen Hydrographischen Organisation (IHO), 
einer zwischenstaatlichen Organisation, die 
die Arbeit der hydrographischen Dienste aller 
Kontinente koordiniert. In den technischen 
Arbeitsgruppen geht es vor allem um die 
Weiterentwicklung internationaler Standards für 
die Seevermessung und digitalen Seekarten 
produkte. 
The BSH represents Germany in the Internatio 
nal Hydrographic Organization, an intergovern 
mental body co-ordinating the activities of all 
hydrographic offices worldwide. Among the 
main tasks of its technical working groups is the 
further development of international standards 
for hydrographic surveying and digital chart 
products. 
Teilnehmer der 4. IHO-Konferenz in Monaco 
Participants of the 4 th IHO Conference in Monaco 
2010 wurde das neue universelle Daten 
modell S-100 veröffentlicht, das in Zukunft 
hydro-graphische Daten für internetbasierte 
Technologien verfügbar macht. So sollen unter 
anderem 3-D-Darstellungen auf übergroßen 
Monitoren hochgenaue Bilder ermöglichen, 
die nicht nur für die Schifffahrt interessant sein
