2009 sind erstmals in Deutschland Raum 
ordnungspläne für die AWZ von Nord- und 
Ostsee in Kraft getreten. Darin werden einzelne 
Nutzungen und Funktionen wie Schifffahrt, 
Windenergie, Rohstoffgewinnung, Forschung 
und Meeresumweltschutz koordiniert und 
festgelegt. Die Pläne, die vom BSH mit dem 
Bundesverkehrsministerium entwickelt wurden, 
hatten zuvor eine breite Öffentlichkeitsbeteili 
gung durchlaufen. 
For the first time in 2009, spatial plans for 
the German EEZ in the North and Baltic Seas 
entered into force. In these plans, uses and 
functions such as shipping, wind energy, exploi 
tation of natural resources, marine research, 
and marine environmental protection are estab 
lished and co-ordinated. Before entering into 
force, the plans, developed jointly by the BSH 
and the Federal Ministry of Transport, had been 
subject to wide public participation. 
Eine vorausschauende maritime Raumplanung kann nicht nur 
zur Vermeidung von Konflikten beitragen, sondern auch 
positive Synergien fördern. 
Future-oriented maritime spatial planning not only helps to avoid 
conflicts but also supports positive synergy effects. 
Unter Federführung des BSH startete das inter 
nationale Ostseeprojektes „BaltSeaPlan“, das 
die EU mit 3,7 Mio. Euro unterstützt. Auf Basis 
großräumiger Daten zu Nutzungen und zur 
Meeresumwelt der Ostsee sollen für bestimmte 
Modellregionen Vorschläge für grenzüber 
schreitende Raumordnungspläne entworfen 
werden. 
The international Baltic Sea project “Balt 
SeaPlan”, which is under the lead management 
of the BSH and receives 3.7 million Euro EU 
funding, was launched in 2009. Its purpose is 
the drafting of transboundary spatial plans for 
certain model areas on the basis of large-area 
data on uses and marine environment of the 
Baltic Sea.
