The shape and position of the sediment transport pathways proved relatively stable over
the various years of simulation. The deficiency of sediment in die region of die Nordi
Frisian Islands (northern part of die German Bight) is especially apparent in all model
results.
The variability of die sediment transport pathways is considerably higher in die oudet
regions of the German estuaries owing to the complex bathymetric situation and the river
run off which has a marked induence on sediment transport. Fig. 17 documents the mean
sediment transport padiways for die moudi of die Elbe estuary for die year 2000 (top
panel) and for 2010 (lower panel).
