Die Meere sind traditionell Verkehrsweg, 
Nahrungsquelle und Erholungsgebiet. Jetzt 
rücken sie als Wirtschaftsressource, als 
Energiereserve in das Zentrum unseres 
Interesses.

Kenntnisse über das Meer werden damit 
immer wichtiger. Das BSH als Meeresbe 
hörde in Deutschland kann sich hier auf 
seine langjährige Erfahrung und umfang 
reiche Expertise zu Schifffahrt und Meer 
stützen: Seevermessung, Wrackuntersu 
chungen, Meereskunde, systematische 
Beobachtungen und Bewertungen des 
Zustands von Meer und Meeresgrund. 
Die Analyse der Veränderungen sowie 
deren Aufbereitung und Bereitstellung für 
die Nutzer gehören ebenso zu unseren 
Aufgaben wie vielfältige Dienste für die 
Schifffahrt. Darauf basiert unser Einsatz 
für eine nachhaltige Nutzung, die auch den 
Meeresschutz im Blick hat.

on its many years of experience and 
broad expertise in maritime shipping and 
oceans: hydrographic surveying, wreck 
investigations, oceanography, systematic 
observations and evaluations of the state 
of the sea and seabed. The analysis of 
the changes as well as their preparation 
and provision for the users are likewise 
included in our tasks as a diverse range of 
services for maritime shipping. Our com 
mitment is based on this for a sustainable 
use that also focuses on the protection of 
the marine environment.
