40-85 cm dickem Festeis bedeckt. Außerhalb davon 
liegt sehr dichtes, stark aufgepresstes 40-60 cm 
dickes Eis. Im Eisfeld kommen Brüche vor. Eine 
Rinne verläuft von Malören nach Farstugrunden und 
weiter S-wärts entlang der schwedischen Küste. Im 
mittleren und S-lichen Teil liegt in den Schären 35- 
50 cm dickes, morsch werdendes Festeis, außer- 
halb davon sehr dichtes, übereinandergeschobenes 
uJnd aufgepresstes 30-50 cm dickes Treibeis. Im 
Eisfeld kommen Brüche vor. Im Fahrwasser nach 
Raahe und Kemi-Tornio kommt schwieriges Eis vor. 
- Schwedische Küste: In den Schären 30-80 cm 
dickes Festeis. Auf See liegt sehr dichtes 30-60 cm 
dickes Eis, in dem gröbere Schollen und Presseis- 
rücken vorkommen. Eine 20-30 sm breite Rinne 
erstreckt sich von Malören über Norströmsgrund und 
weiter S-wärts entlang der Küste bis Norra Kvarken. 
NE-lich von Norströmsgrund verengt sich die Rinne 
auf 5-10sm. Dort und in der Bucht von Skellefteä 
treiben in der Rinne mehrere grobe Eisschollen. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
Im nördlichen Ostseeraum wird sich in den nächsten 
zwei Tagen eine Hochdrucklage einstellen. In der 
Bottenvik werden schwache bis mäßige Winde aus 
nordwestlichen bis nördlichen Richtungen vor- 
herrschen. Durch auflandige Winde bleibt die 
Eislage außerhalb der finnischen Küste weiterhin 
schwierig. Trotz örtlicher Nachtfröste werden 
tagsüber deutlich ansteigende Lufttemperaturen den 
Eisrückgang in Norra Kvarken und im Südteil der 
Bottenvik beschleunigen, das Eis im Nordteil der 
Bottenvik wird zunehmend morsch.

farther southward along the Swedish coast. In the 
zentral and southern part there is 35-60 cm thick 
rottening fast ice in the archipelagos, farther off 
very close, rafted and ridged 30-50 cm thick ice 
accurs. There are fractures in the ice field. The 
fairways to Raahe and Kemi-Tornio are difficult to 
'orce. - Swedish Coast: In the archipelagos there 
is 30-80 cm thick fast ice. At sea there is mostly 
very close 30-60 cm thick ice with heavy floes and 
ridges. A 20-30 nm wide lead stretches from 
Malören past Norströmsgrund and then farther 
southwards along the coast to Norra Kvarken. 
Directly north-east of Norströmsgrund the lead 
narrows to 5-10nm width. There and in the bay of 
Skellefteä several heavy ice floes are drifting in the 
lead. 
Expected Ice Development 
In the next days a high pressure system will 
establish over the northern Baltic region. In the Bay 
of Bothnia the wind will come predominantly out of 
north-westerly to northerly directions. Due to the 
onshore winds at the Finnish coast the ice situation 
outside the coast will remain difficult. Although 
night temperatures locally can fall below freezing, 
increasing day temperatures will lead to an 
accelerated ice decrease in Norra Kvarken and the 
southern Bay of Bothnia. In the northern Bay of 
Bothnia the ice will become more and more rotten.
