S-liche, danach in E- bis SE-liche Richtungen
treiben. Im Finnischen und Rigaischen Meerbusen
sowie in der Bottensee wird sich der jahreszeitliche
Eisrückgang relativ schnell fortsetzen.

wind-induced changes of ice situation will
dominate: The ice at sea will drift southwards within
the next two days, thereafter, towards east to
southeast. The seasonal ice retreat in the Gulfs of
Finland and Riga as well as in the Sea of Bothnia
will continue rather rapidly.

Information of the Icebreaker Services
Finland
From 1* of March only vessels in ice class IA and more than 4000 tons in deadweight, which have per port (for
:he ports Tornio, Kemi, Oulu, Raahe) at least 2000 tons to load or unload or both together.
Vessels bound for ports in the Gulf of Bothnia shall report to ICE INFO on VHF Channel 84 when passing the
Svenska Björn lighthouse.
Icebreaker: KONTIO, URHO and OTSO assist in the northern Bay of Bothnia, SISU works in the southern
3ay of Bothnia. VOIMA assists in the eastern Gulf of Finland. PROTECTOR and LETTO assist in Lake
Saimaa.
Russia
Icebreaker: Icebreakers KAPITAN ZARUBIN, IVAN KRUZENSTERN and SEMYAN DEZNEV assist vessels in
he port of St. Petersburg. In the ports Vyborg and Vysotsk vessels are assisted by icebreakers TOR and
KAPITAN IZMAILOW. ERMAK and MOSKVA are working in the port of Primorsk. KARU is assisting in the port
Jst Luga. On the fairway from the receiving buoy to the island Gogland vessels are assisted by icebreaker
KAPITAN SOROKIN.
Sweden
Vessels not suitable for winter navigation, river vessels and tugs with barge can not expect governmental
cebreaker assistance.
Vessels bound for ports subject to traffic restrictions in Gulf of Bothnia shall, when passing Svenska Björn
'59°33’N 20°01’E), report to ICEINFO on VHF channel 84.
Arrival report is to be made to ICEINFO, on VHF channel 16, when the ship is well moored, including ship’s
ıame, ETD and next port of destination.
Departure report is to be made to ICEINFO, on VHF channel 16, at least 6 hours before departure.
Icebreaker: YMER assists in the northern Bay of Bothnia. ATLE assists in the Quark. FREJ assists in the
10orthern Sea of Bothnia and in the Quark.
