Übersicht 
Die Eisverhältnisse im N-lichen Ostseeraum haben 
sich seit gestern nicht wesentlich geändert. 
- Der Saimaakanal wird am 14. April 2010 für die 
Schifffahrt wieder geöffnet. 
Overview 
Ice conditions in the northern region of the Baltic 
Sea have hardly changed since yesterday. 
- The Saimaa Canal will be opened for navigation 
on 14° of April 2010. 
Nordsee ] 
Dänische Küste: Uberwiegend eisfrei. 
North Sea 
Danish Coast: Mostly ice-free. 
Skagerrak, Kattegat, Belte und Sund 
Dänische Küste: Überwiegend eisfrei. - 
Norwegische Küste: In einigen inneren Fjorden 
antlang der Küste lockeres Eis oder offenes Wasser 
ind bis zu 50 cm dickes Festeis. - Schwedische 
Küste: In den Schären kommt 10-30 cm dickes 
morsches Eis vor. 
Skagerrak, Kattegat, Belts and Sound 
Danish Coast: Mostly ice-free. - Norwegian 
Coast: In some inner fjords along the coast there is 
open ice or open water and up to 50 cm thick fast 
ce. - Swedish Coast: In the archipelagos there is 
10-30 cm thick rotten ice. 
Westliche und Südliche Ostsee 
Dänische Küste: Überwiegend eisfrei. - Litauische 
Küste: Im Kurischen Haff lockeres bis sehr dichtes 
norsches Eis. - Schwedische Küste: Bei 
Karlskrona lockeres bis sehr lockeres 5-20 cm 
dickes Eis. 
Western and Southern Baltic 
Danish Coast: Mostly ice-free. - Lithuanian 
Coast: In the Courland Lagoon there is open to 
very close rotten ice. - Swedish Coast: At 
Karlskrona there is open to very open 5-20 cm thick 
ce. 
Mittlere und Nördliche Ostsee 
Lettische Küste: Im Hafen von Ventspils sehr 
ockeres Eis. - Schwedische Küste: In den inneren 
Schären liegt 10-40 cm dickes, morsch werdendes 
Festeis, es kommen offene Stellen vor. Im 
Kalmarsund dichtes, bis zu 30 cm dickes Eis; 
Schifffahrt durch Kalmarsund ist nicht empfehlens- 
wert. Mälarsee: Mit bis zu 40 cm dickem, morsch 
werdenden Festeis bedeckt, im zentralen Bereich 
kommen offene Stellen vor. Vänernsee: Eine breite 
Central and Northern Baltic 
Latvian Coast: In the port of Ventspils very open 
ice. - Swedish coast: In the inner archipelagos 
‘here is 10-40 cm thick rottening fast ice with some 
open areas. In Kalmarsund there is close, up to 30 
zm thick drift ice; Transit traffic through Kalmarsund 
is not advisable. Lake Mälaren: Covered with up to 
40 cm thick rottening fast ice. In the central part 
there are open areas. Lake Vänern: A wide lead 
runs along the coast of Värmlandsnäs., and cracks
