fairway to Stettin. - Swedish Coast: At Karlskrona 
there is very open 5-20 cm thick ice. 
Mittlere und Nördliche Ostsee 
N-lich von etwa 59°N treibt 5-30cm dickes, sehr 
lockeres bis lockeres Eis. 
Lettische Küste: Eisfrei. - Schwedische Küste: In 
den inneren Schären liegt 10-40 cm dickes, morsch 
werdendes Festeis. Im Kalmarsund kommt S-lich 
von Blä Jungfrun bis zu 30 cm dickes, dichtes bis 
sehr dichtes Eis vor. Mälarsee: Mit bis zu 40 cm 
dickem Festeis bedeckt, im zentralen Bereich 
kommen offene Stellen vor. Vänernsee: Ebenes 
oder sehr dichtes Eis, 20-40 cm dick. In den Djurö 
Schären kommen einige schwere Presseisrücken 
vor. Im Värmlanssjön hat sich außerhalb von 
Värmlandsnäs eine Rinne aufgetan. 
Central and Northern Baltic 
North of about 59°N there is very open to open, 5- 
30 cm thick drift ice. 
Latvian Coast: Ice free. - Swedish coast: In the 
inner archipelagos there is 10-40 cm thick rottening 
fast ice. In Kalmarsund there is close to very close, 
up to 30 cm thick drift ice south of Blä Jungfrun. 
Lake Mälaren: Covered with up to 40 cm thick fast 
ice. In the central part there are open areas. Lake 
Vänern: Level or very close ice, 20-40 cm thick. 
There are some heavy ridges in the Djurö 
archipelago and a narrow lead has opened in 
Värmlandssjön outside of Värmlandsnäs. 
Rigaischer Meerbusen 
Estnische Küste: Der Moonsund ist mit 20-40 cm, 
die Pärnubucht mit 45-55 cm dickem Festeis 
bedeckt. Weiter im Fahrwasser zur Irbenstraße liegt 
sehr dichtes, aufgepresstes 15-25 cm dickes Eis. In 
der Irbenstraße treibt sehr lockereres Eis. 
Lettische Küste: Im Hafen von Riga sehr lockeres 
Eis. Entlang der Küste zur Irbenstraße erstreckt sich 
ein 10-20km breites Gebiet mit offenem Wasser. In 
der Irbenstraße liegt sehr lockeres Eis. Im 
Fahrwasser Irbenstraße —- Ventspils treiben Streifen 
aus lockeren Eis. 
Finnischer Meerbusen 
Estnische Küste: In der Narva Bucht Festeis an der 
Küste, außerhalb davon sehr dichtes Eis. In der 
Kundabucht lockeres Eis. In der Muugabucht erst 
Festeis und dann sehr dichtes, 15-30cm dickes Eis. 
in der Bucht von Tallin treibt sehr dichtes Eis. Weiter 
außerhalb erstreckt sich östlich von Naissaar eine 4- 
10 sm breite Rinne mit lockeren Eis, anschließend 
xommt dichtes 15-35 cm dickes Eis vor. - Finnische 
Küste: Das Festeis in den Schären ist im Westen 
20-50 cm, im Osten 25-60cm dick. Außerhalb 
davon liegt im Westen ein 2-18 sm breites Gebiet 
nit 5-30 cm dicken lockeren Eis und im Osten treibt 
auf 2-17 sm Breite dünnes, sehr lockeres Eis. Weiter 
südlich treibt 10-45cm dickes, dichtes bis sehr 
dichtes Eis. - Russische Küste: In den Häfen von 
St. Petersburg liegt Festeis. Weiter W-lich im 
Fahrwasser bis Kotlin 45-65 cm dickes Festeis, 
dann sehr dichtes 30-50 cm dickes Eis bis MoSCny], 
anschließend sehr dichtes 25-40 cm dickes Eis bis 
RodSer. Weiter außerhalb dann 15-35cm dickes 
dichtes Eis. - Die Vyborgbucht ist mit 45-65 cm 
dickem Festeis bedeckt, weiter bis zum Leuchtturm 
Sommers kommt sehr dichtes 30-50 cm dickes Eis 
vor, dann sehr dichtes 25-40 cm dickes Eis. - Im 
Berkezund liegt 45-60 cm dickes Festeis, in der 
Einfahrt sehr dichtes 30-50 cm dickes Eis. - In der 
Lugabucht 25-45 cm dickes Festeis bis zur Breite 
Gulf of Riga 
Estonian Coast: In Moon Sound there is 20- 
40 cm, in the Pärnu Bay 45-55 cm thick fast ice. 
Farther out on the fairway to Irben Strait there is 
very close, ridged 15-25 cm thick ice. In the Irben 
Strait there is very open drift ice. - Latvian Coast: 
In the port of Riga very open ice. Along the coast to 
Irben strait a 10-20km wide zone of open water and 
in the Irben Strait very open ice. Stripes of open ice 
are drifting on the fairway from Irben Strait to 
Ventspils. 
Gulf of Finland 
Estonian Coast: In The Bight of Narva there is fast 
ice near the coast and very close ice farther out. In 
Ihe Kunda Bay there is open ice, in the Muuga Bay 
there is fast ice and then and then very close 15-30 
cm thick ice. In the Tallinn Bay there is very close 
ice. Farther out, east of Naissaar there is a 4-10nm 
wide lead with very open ice, then 15-35cm thick 
close ice. - Finnish Coast: In the archipelagos 
there is 20-50 cm thick fast ice in the west and 25- 
50cm thich fast ice in the east. Farther out there a 
2-18nm wide region with 5-30cm thick open ice ice 
‚n the west and in the east there is a 2-17nm wide 
area with thin very open drift ice. Farther south 
there is 10-45cm thick, close to very close ice. - 
Russian Coast: In the harbours of St. Petersburg 
here is fast ice. Farther westwards on the fairway 45- 
35 cm thick fast ice occurs to Kotlin, then very close 
30-50 cm thick ice to MoSCnyj, followed by very close 
25-40 cm thick ice to RodSer. Farther out 15-35cm 
thick close ice. - The Vyborg Bay is covered with 45- 
65 cm thick fast ice, followed by very close 30-50 cm 
thick ice up to the lighthouse Sommers. Farther out 
there is very close 25-40 cm thick ice. - In Berkezund 
there is 45-60 cm thick fast ice, in the entrance 
there is very close 30-50 cm thick ice. - In the Luga 
Bay there is 25-45 cm thick fast ice up to the 
jatitude of Cape Luto, farther out there is very close
