Finland
The Saimaa Canal was closed for traffic on Sunday, the 24” January.
From 1“ of March only vessels in ice class IA and more than 4000 tons in deadweight, which have per
port (for the ports Tornio, Kemi, Oulu, Raahe, Kokkola and Pietarsaari) at least 2000 tons to load or
unload or both together.
Vessels bound for ports in the Gulf of Bothnia shall report to ICE INFO on VHF Channel 65 when passing the
Gotska Sandön lighthouse.
The traffic separation schemes in the Sea of Äland and in the Gulf of Finland are temporarily out of use due to
ce conditions. The traffic bound for the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland will partly be led through Porkkala
along the 9 meter archipelago channel.
Icebreaker: KONTIO, URHO and OTSO assist in the northern Bay of Bothnia and FENNICA in the southerr
Bay of Bothnia. ZEUS assists in the southern Sea of Bothnia and in the Archipelago Sea. VOIMA assists in
he western Gulf of Finland, SISU in the central and NORDICA in the eastern Gulf of Finland.
Germany
The northern approach to Stralsund, the southern Peenestrom and Kleines Haff are closed for navigation. Only
daytime navigation is allowed to Stralsund.
icebreaker: ARKONA is assisting in the eastern approach to Stralsund, Landtief and in the Greifswalder
Bodden. GORMITZ assists in the northern Peenestrom, Osttief and in the Greifswalder Bodden.
Latvia
Call on VHF channel 16 or 13 for icebreaker VARMA, or mobile phone +37129341982 or +37129272477.
icebreaker: VARMA assists in the Gulf of Riga and in Irben Strait, no service for tugs and barges.
Norway
Ice Class IC is recommended for navigation in the Norwegian waters (fairways).
Navigation in Vestereiva is temporarily closed due to construction work. In the area of Drammensfjorden,
Grenholmsgapet and Stangholmgapet navigation is possible with icebreaker assistance. In the inner harbour of
Sandefjorden contact Sandefjord Harbour for ice breaking, +4791327783. Navigation in Langärdsund is
temporarily closed.
Russia
The tow boat-barges are not assisted to St. Petersburg, Vyborg, Vysotsk and Ust-Luga.
Icebreaker: Icebreakers SEMYAN DEZNEV, YURI LISYANSKI and KAPITAN ZARUBIN assist vessels in the
port of St. Petersburg. In the ports Vyborg and Vysotsk vessels are assisted by icebreaker TOR. ERMAK and
MOSKVA are working in the port of Primorsk. IVAN KRUZENSTERN is assisting in the port Ust Luga.
On the fairway from the receiving buoy to the island Gogland vessels are assisted by icebreaker MUDJUG. The
point of convoy formation is 59°45’N 26°16’E.
Sweden
Transit traffic through western part of the Quark is prohibited.
Transit traffic through Oregrundsgrepen and Kalmarsund is not advisable.
Traffic for low power vessels from Strömstad to Bergkvara is not advisable.
Vessels not suitable for winter navigation, river vessels and tugs with barge can not expect governmental
cebreaker assistance.
All ships entering harbours in the Gulf of Bothnia shall, when passing Svenska Björn (59° 33’N 20° 01’ E),
contact ICEINFO on VHF channel 84.
Arrival report is to be made to ICEINFO, on VHF channel 16, when the ship is well moored, including ship’s
ıame, ETD and next port of destination.
Departure report is to be made to ICEINFO, on VHF channel 16, at least 6 hours before departure.
Icebreaker: FREJ assists in the northern Bay of Bothnia. BALDER VIKING assists in the southern Bay of
3othnia. ATLE assists in the Quark. YMER assists in the northern Sea of Bothnia. TOR VIKING II assists in
ihe southern Sea of Bothnia and in the Äland Sea. ALE and DYNAN assist in Lake Vänern and in Göta
River. SCANDICA assists along the Swedish west coast. BALTICA assists in the northern Kalmarsund.
