Bottenvik 
Finnische Küste: Die nördlichen inneren 
Schären sind mit 15-35 cm dickem Festeis 
bedeckt. Entlang der Festeisgrenze liegt ein 
Gürtel mit 5-20 cm dickem zusammenhängendem 
Treibeis, anschließend kommt bis zur Linie 
Malören — Merikallat dünnes ebenes Eis und 
Neueis vor, danach offenes Wasser. Im Süden 
dünnes Eis in den Schären, außerhalb davon 
Veueis und Neueisbildung - Schwedische 
Küste: In den nördlichen Schären liegt 10-40 cm 
dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon treibt südöstlich 
von Luleä entlang Rodkallen bis etwa nach 
Falkensgrund lockeres Eis. In den südlichen 
Schären liegt an geschützten Stellen 10-20 cm 
dickes ebenes Eis und dicht an der Küste tritt 
Neueis auf. Auf See ansonsten eisfrei. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
Der Dienstag bring bei zeitweise südöstlichen 
Winden in der Bottenvik und östlichen Winden im 
Finnischen Meerbusen etwas wärmere Luft 
1eran, es bleibt aber frostig. Zum Mittwoch wird 
es dann wieder kälter. Die Neueisbildung wird 
sich fortsetzen, das Eis in der Bottenvik und im 
Finnischen Meerbusen driftet hauptsächlich nach 
Osten.

Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: The northern inner archipelagos are 
zovered with 15-35 cm thick fast ice. At the fast ice 
edge there is a zone with 5-20 cm thick consolidated 
drift ice, farther off to the line Malören — Merikallat thin 
level ice and new ice occurs, then open water. In the 
south there is thin ice in the inner archipelago, farther 
out new ice and new ice formation. - Swedish Coast: 
In the northern archipelago there is 10-40 cm thick 
fast ice. Farther off open ice is drifting Southeast of 
Luleäa, past Rodkallen and stretching up to 
approximately Falkensgrund. In the _southern 
archipelagos there 10-20cm thick level ice in places 
and near to the coast there is new ice. Else at sea ice 
free. 
Expected Ice Development 
During some time on Tuesday the wind will veer and 
blow out of south-westerly direction in the Bay of 
Bothnia and from more westerly direction in the Gulf 
of Finland, bringing somewhat milder air into the 
region, although temperatures will stay below zero. 
But this is only temporarily, as on Wednesday 
temperatures will drop again. New ice formation will 
sontinue and the ice drift in the Bay of Bothnia and in 
the gulf of Finland will be mostly in easterly direction.
