Information of the Icebreaker Services 
Finland 
The Saimaa Canal is closed for traffic. 
icebreaker: OTSO, KONTIO and SISU assist in the northern Bay of Bothnia. URHO assists in the southern 
Bay of Bothnia. 
Russia 
Tow boat-barges are not assisted to St. Petersburg, Primorsk and Ust-Luga. 
All restrictions to navigation for the harbour of St. Petersburg will be cancelled from April, 6". 
icebreaker: Low-powered vessels to St. Petersburg can be assisted at need by port icebreakers SEMYAN 
DEZNEV, KAPITAN ZARUBIN, KARU and KAPITAN SOROKIN, in the port Primorsk by icebreaker ERMAK 
Low-powered vessel in the ports Vyborg and Vysotsk are assisted by icebreakers KAPITAN IZMAILOV and 
TOR, in the port Ust-Luga by icebreaker MOSKVA. 
Sweden 
Vessels not suitable for winter navigation, river vessels and tugs with barge can not expect governmental 
cebreaker assistance. All ships entering harbours in the Gulf of Bothnia shall, when passing Svenska Biörn 
N 59°33’ E 20°01’) contact the VTS Gävle on VHF channel 84. 
icebreaker: YMER and ATLE assist in the Bay of Bothnia. ALE assists in the Quark. 
No transit traffic through the Quark west of Holmöarna is allowed.
