Bottenvik 
Finnische Küste: Die nördlichen Schären sind bis 
zur Linie Kemi 2 — Oulu 1 mit 40-70 cm, die 
südlichen Schären mit 20-50 cm dickem Festeis be- 
deckt. Außerhalb davon liegt im Norden sehr 
dichtes, stark aufgepresstes 30-50 cm dickes Eis. Im 
Eisfeld kommt es zu Pressungen. Im Süden tritt sehr 
dichtes und aufgepresstes 15-50 cm dickes Treibeis 
auf. Westlich der Line Bjuröklubb — Valassaaret 
kommt dünnes ebenes Eis vor. - Schwedische 
Küste: In den nördlichen Schären 30-70 cm, in den 
südlichen Schären bis zu 60 cm dickes Festeis. Auf 
See liegt im Norden größtenteils sehr dichtes 
aufgepresstes 20-50 cm dickes Eis, in dem einige 
dickere Schollen und Risse vorkommen. Dünnes 
ebenes Eis und Neueis kommt in einem Gebiet von 
außerhalb der Einfahrt nach Karlsborg über Malören 
n Richtung Kemi 1 sowie in einem Gebiet zwischen 
Falkensgrund und Gäsören vor. Von Falkensgrund 
verläuft über Nygrän nach Bjuröklubb und weiter bis 
\orra Kvarken eine schmale Rinne. Im südlichen 
Teil kommt westlich der Linie Blackkallen — Helsing- 
kallan dünnes ebenes Eis mit einigen dickeren 
Eisschollen dazwischen vor, Östlich davon liegt 
dichtes 15-30 cm dickes Eis mit Presseisrücken. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
Das Eis in der Bottenvik wird in den nächsten 24 
Stunden südwestwärts bis westwärts treiben, die 
Eispressungen außerhalb der finnischen Küste 
werden ganz aufhören. Das restliche Eis auf See im 
Finnischen Meerbusen wird überwiegend in die 
südöstlichen Richtungen treiben und dabei weiter 
abnehmen. Am Wochenende wird im Ostseeraum 
eine windschwache Hochdrucklage vorherrschen. In 
den offenen Bereichen der Bottenvik kann sich 
\eueis bilden. Der Eisrückgang in der Bottensee, im 
Schärenmeer, im Finnischen Meerbusen und im 
Rigaischen Meerbusen wird sich weiter fortsetzen. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: The northern archipelagos are 
zovered up to the line Kemi 2 — Qulu 1 with 40-70 
cm, the southern archipelagos with 20-50 cm thick 
“ast ice. Farther out in the northern part there is 
very close, heavily ridged 30-50 cm thick ice. There 
is ice pressure in the ice field. In the southern part 
‘here is very close ridged 15-50 cm thick ice. West 
of the line Bjuröklubb — Valassaaret thin level ice 
occurs. - Swedish Coast: The _northern 
archipelago are covered with 30-70 cm, the 
southern archipelagos with up to 60 cm thick fast 
‘ce. In the northern part there is mostly very close 
ridged 20-50 cm thick ice with some embedded 
thicker floes and cracks. An area of thin ice and 
1ew ice extends from off the entrance to Karlsborg 
‚unning via Malören towards Kemi 1. An area with 
thin level ice and new ice is also found between 
Falkensgrund and Gäs6ren. A narrow lead runs 
Irom Falkensgrund via Nygrän to Bjuröklubb and 
farther out to the Quark. West of the line 
Blackkallen — Helsingkallan, there is thin level ice 
with some thicker ice floes in between, east of this 
line there is close 15-30 cm thick ice with ridges. 
Expected Ice Development 
The ice in the Bay of Bothnia will drift 
southwestwards to westwards during the next 24 
hours, ice pressure off the Finnish coast will quite 
cease. The remaining ice at sea in the Gulf of 
Finland will mostly drift to the Ssoutheasterly 
directions, and will further decrease thereby. 
During the week-end, a high pressure situation with 
weak winds will dominate in the region of the Baltic 
Sea. New ice may form in the open areas of the 
Bay of Bothnia. The ice decrease in the Sea of 
Bothnia, in the Archipelago Sea, in the Gulf of 
Finland and in the Gulf of Riga will further continue.
