Schärenmeer 
Ebenes 5-15 cm dickes Eis bis Lohm im Süden und 
bis fast Isokari im Norden. 
Archipelago Sea 
Level 5-15 cm thick ice to Lohm in the South and 
nearly to Isokari in the North. 
Bottensee 
Finnische Küste: In den Schären liegt 10-30 cm 
dickes Festeis, außerhalb davon auf 2-5 sm dünnes 
Eis und Neueis. - Schwedische Küste: In den 
nneren Buchten und Häfen liegt 10-25 cm dickes 
abenes Eis. Außerhalb davon kommt nördlich von 
Högbonden dicht an der Küste dichtes 5-15 cm 
dickes Treibeis oder Eisbrei, südlich davon bis zur 
Saävie Bucht Neueis und Neueisbildung vor. Der 
Angermanälv ist mit 20-35 cm dickem Festeis 
Dedeckt. Auf See eisfrei. 
Sea of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: There is 10-30 cm thick fast ice in 
the archipelago, farther off thin ice and new ice 
occurs for 2-5 nm. - Swedish Coast: In the inner 
bays and harbours there is 10-25 cm thick level ice. 
Farther off there is north of Högbonden close to the 
coast close 5-15 cm thick drift ice or shuga. South 
of it there is new ice and new ice formation to the 
Bight of Gävle. The Ängermanälv is covered with 
20-35 cm thick fast ice. At sea ice free. 
Norra Kvarken 
Vollkommen eisbedeckt. 
Finnische Küste: Zwischen Vaasa und Ensten liegt 
20-30 cm dickes Festeis, anschließend kommt bis 
Vaasa-Leuchtturmm zusammenhängendes dünnes 
Eis vor. - Schwedische Küste: In den Buchten und 
Häfen entlang der Küste liegt 10-35 cm dickes 
abenes Eis. Außerhalb davon kommt sehr dichtes 5- 
15 cm dickes Treibeis, dichtes 3-8 cm dickes Eis 
und Neueis vor. 
Norra Kvarken 
Totally ice covered. 
Finnish Coast: Between Vaasa and Ensten there 
s 20-30 cm thick fast ice, farther off consolidated 
thin ice occurs to Vaasa lighthouse. - Swedish 
Coast: In bays and harbours along the coast there 
's 10-35 cm thick level ice. Farther off there is very 
close 5-15 cm thick drift ice, close 3-8 cm thick ice 
and new ice. 
Bottenvik 
Eisbedeckt bis auf ein kleines offenes Gebiet im 
mittleren Bereich. 
Finnische Küste: Die nördlichen Schären sind mit 
40-60 cm, die südlichen Schären mit 20-35 cm 
dickem Festeis bedeckt. Außerhalb der Festeis- 
grenze kommt bis zur Linie Merikallat — Valassaaret 
sehr dichtes dünnes Eis und Neueis vor. - 
Schwedische Küste: In den nördlichen Schären 30- 
50 cm, in den südlichen Schären bis zu 30 cm 
dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon liegt von der 
Skelleftea Bucht nordwärts sehr dichtes 20-50 cm 
dickes Eis. Südlich davon tritt zwischen Bjuröklubb 
und Holmöarna wechselweise dünnes ebenes Eis 
und sehr dichtes 10-25 cm dickes Eis auf. 
Bay of Bothnia

Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
Bei mäßigem bis starkem Frost wird sich die 
ntensive Eisbildung im Bottnischen Meerbusen über 
das Wochenende hinaus fortsetzen. Die Bottenvik 
xann in den nächsten zwei Tagen vollständig 
zufrieren. Im Finnischen und Rigaischen Meerbusen 
st mit einer langsamen Eiszunahme zu rechnen. Im 
südlichen Ostseeraum kann sich in den inneren 
Küstengewässern Neueis bilden. 
Expected Ice Development 
At moderate to strong frost, intensive ice formation 
n the Gulf of Bothnia will continue past the week- 
end. The Bay of Bothnia may be totally ice covered 
within the next two days. In the Gulf of Finland and 
Gulf of Riga the ice will increase only slowly. In the 
southern region of the Baltic Sea new ice may form 
in the inner coastal waters.
