In geschützten Buchten und Schären liegt dünnes 
ebenes Eis oder Neueis. 
Sea of Äland 
In sheltered bays and archipelagos there is thin 
level ice or new ice. 
Schärenmeer 
Ebenes 5-15 cm dickes Eis bis Lohm im Süden und 
bis Isokari im Norden. 
Archipelago Sea 
Level 5-15 cm thick ice to Lohm in the South and to 
isokari in the North. 
Bottensee 
Finnische Küste: In den Schären liegt 10-30 cm 
dickes Festeis, außerhalb davon auf 2-5 sm dünnes 
Eis und Neueis. - Schwedische Küste: In den 
nneren Buchten und Häfen zwischen Ornsköldsvik 
nd Gävle liegt 10-25 cm dickes ebenes Eis. 
Außerhalb davon kommt entlang der Küste Neueis 
und Eisbrei vor. Der Ängermanälv ist mit 15-30 cm 
dickem Festeis bedeckt. Auf See eisfrei. 
Sea of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: There is 10-30 cm thick fast ice in 
ihe archipelago, farther off thin ice and new ice 
occurs for 2-5 nm. - Swedish Coast: In the inner 
bays and harbours there is 10-25 cm thick level ice 
between Ornsköldsvik and Gävle. Farther off along 
the coast there is new ice and shuga. The 
Angermanälv is covered with 15-30 cm thick fast 
ice. At sea ice free. 
Norra Kvarken 
Vollkommen eisbedeckt. 
Finnische Küste: Zwischen Vaasa und Ensten liegt 
20-30 cm dickes Festeis, anschließend kommt bis 
Norra Gloppsten zusammengeschobenes dünnes 
Eis vor. - Schwedische Küste: In den Buchten und 
Häfen entlang der Küste liegt 10-35 cm dickes 
abenes Eis. Außerhalb davon kommt lockeres bis 
dichtes 5-15 cm dickes Treibeis und Neueis vor. 
Norra Kvarken 
Totally ice covered. 
Finnish Coast: Between Vaasa and Ensten there 
s 20-30 cm thick fast ice, farther off compact thin 
ce occurs to Norra Gloppsten. - Swedish Coast: 
In bays and harbours along the coast there is 10- 
35 cm thick level ice. Farther off there is open to 
close 5-15 cm thick ice and new ice. 
Bottenvik 
Nördlich 65° N vollkommen eisbedeckt, weiter 
südlich verläuft die Eisgrenze entlang der Küste, 
atwa 25 sm von der finnischen und etwa 35 sm von 
der schwedischen Küste entfernt. 
Finnische Küste: Die nördlichen Schären sind mit 
40-60 cm, die südlichen Schären mit 20-35 cm 
dickem Festeis bedeckt. Außerhalb der Festeis- 
grenze kommt bis zur Linie Skelleftea — Oulu 1 -— 
Valassaaret sehr dichtes dünnes Eis und Neueis 
vor. - Schwedische Küste: In den nördlichen 
Schären 25-50 cm dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon 
iegt bis zur Breite 65° N dichtes und sehr dichte s 
dis zu 50 cm dickes Eis. In der Skellefteä Bucht tritt 
auf 35 sm dichtes 10-30 cm dickes Treibeis auf. In 
den südlichen Schären kommt bis zu 30 cm dickes 
sbenes Eis oder Festeis vor, außerhalb davon 
verläuft zwischen Blackkallen und Rata Storgrund 
antlang der Küste eine mit Neueis bedeckte Rinne, 
dann liegt bis zur finnischen Küste dichtes bis sehr 
dichtes 5-15 cm dickes Eis. 
Bay of Bothnia 
North of about 65° N totally ice covered, to the 
south the ice edge runs along the coast, in about 
25 nm distance from the Finnish coast and about 
35 nm from the Swedish coast. 
Finnish Coast: The northern archipelagos are 
covered with 40-60 cm, the southern archipelagos 
with 20-35 cm thick fast ice. Off the fast ice edge 
there is to the line Skelleftea — Oulu 1 —- 
Valassaaret very close thin ice and new ice. -

Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
Bei mäßigem bis starkem Frost und nachlassenden 
südlichen Winden setzt sich die Eisbildung im 
Bottnischen Meerbusen verstärkt fort. Die Bottenvik 
<xann in den nächsten zwei bis drei Tagen fast 
vollständig zufrieren. Im Finnischen Meerbusen und 
‚m südlichen Ostseeraum ist vorerst keine 
wesentliche Eiszunahme zu erwarten. 
Expected Ice Development 
At moderate to strong frost and decreasing 
southern winds, ice formation in the Gulf of Bothnia 
will continue and intensify. The Bay of Bothnia may 
De nNearly totally ice covered within the next two to 
three days. No essential ice increase is to be 
expected in the Gulf of Finland and in the southern 
‚egion of the Baltic Sea ice for the time being.
