ainige bis zu 30 cm dicke Eisschollen auf. 
Schwedische Küste: In der Einfahrt nach Holmsund 
kommt teilweise dichtes 5-10 cm dickes Eis vor. 
Östlich von Holmöarna kommen einige 20-40 cm 
dicke Schollen vor, sonst tritt auf See 5-15 cm dickes 
ebenes oder lockeres Eis auf.

there is partly close ice, 5-10 cm thick. East of

Bottenvik 
Finnische Küste: In den nördlichen Schären 30-60 
om dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon erstreckt sich 
ein großes Gebiet mit 10-20 cm dickem ebenen Eis. 
Westlich der Länge 23°E liegt sehr dichtes 20-45 cm 
dickes aufgepresstes Eis und 10-30 cm dickes über- 
eainandergeschobenes Eis. Die südlichen Schären 
sind mit 10-25 cm dickem Festeis bedeckt. 
Außerhalb davon kommt bis zu MNorra Kvarken 
dünnes ebenes Eis vor. Schwedische Küste: In 
den nördlichen Schären 25-60 cm dickes Festeis. 
Außerhalb davon liegt westlich von der Länge 23° E 
ınd südwärts bis Stora Fjäderägg dichtes bis sehr 
dichtes 20-40 cm dickes Treibeis mit einigen 40-50 
cm dicken Schollen dazwischen und Bereichen mit 
5-20 cm dickem ebenen Eis. Sonst tritt im Osten und 
Süden 10-20 cm dickes ebenes Eis auf. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: In the northern archipelago 30-60 
cm thick fast ice. Farther off there is a vast region of 
10-20 cm thick level ice. West of the longitude 23° 
E there is very close 20-45 cm thick ridged ice and 
10-30 cm thick rafted ice. The southern archipelago 
are covered with 10-25 cm thick fast ice. Farther off 
thin level ice occurs to Norra Kvarken. Swedish 
Coast: In the northern archipelago fast ice, 25-60 
cm thick. Farther off west of the longitude 23°E and 
southwards to Stora Fjäderägg there is close to 
very close 20-40 cm thick drift ice with 40-50 cm 
thick floes in between and areas with 5-20 cm thick 
level ice. Otherwise, 10-20 cm thick level ice occurs 
in the eastern and southern parts. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
Auf der Rückseite eines Tiefs über Ostfinnland, das 
sich nordwärts verlagert, fließt mit nördlichen Winden 
in den nächsten zwei Tagen weiterhin polare Kaltluft 
in den Bereich des nördlichen Bottnischen 
Meerbusens ein. Das Eis in der Bottenvik wird 
südwärts treiben, entlang der Festeiskante kann sich 
sine Rinne Öffnen, in der sich Neueis bilden wird. Im 
=-innischen Meerbusen werden sich die 
Eisverhältnisse vorerst nicht wesentlich verändern. 
‚m Verlauf des Freitags wird der Wind im nördlichen 
Ostseeraum auf Süd drehen. Am Wochenende ist im 
nördlichen Bottnischen Meerbusen und im östlichen 
-innischen Meerbusen mit ansteigenden 
Lufttemperaturen und einsetzendem Eisrückgang zu 
rechnen. 
Expected Ice Development 
At the rear side of a low over eastern Finland, 
slowly moving northwards, polar cold air will further 
on penetrate with northerly winds over the area of 
the northern Gulf of Bothnia during the next two 
days. The ice in the Bay of Bothnia will drift 
southwards, and a lead can open along the fast ice 
3dge, that will be covered by new ice. The ice 
conditions will not change very much in the Gulf of 
Finland first. In the course of Friday the wind in the 
northern region of the Baltic Sea will shift towards 
the south. In the northern Gulf of Bothnia and in the 
sastern Gulf of Finland rising air temperatures and 
Jeginning ice retreat are to be expected within the 
week-end
