Norra Kvarken 
Finnische Küste: Zwischen Vaasa und Ensten liegt 
dünnes Festeis und sehr dichtes Treibeis, außerhalb 
davon treibt bis Vaasa-Leuchtturm lockeres Eis und 
Neueis. Schwedische Küste: Größtenteils eisfrei, 
ozw. dünnes Neueis. 
Bottenvik 
Finnische Küste: In den nördlichen inneren Schären 
30-50 cm dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon kommt 
zuerst südwestlich von Kemi-1 eine 15 sm breite 
Ainne und anschließend liegt bis zur Breite von 
Marjaniemi 15-30 cm dickes sehr dichtes Eis. Die mit 
dünnen Eis und Neueis bedeckte Rinne verläufl 
westlich von Oulu 1 entlang weiter nach Süden. 
Außerhalb Raahes liegt Neueis, stellenweise treiben 
auch große grobe Schollen. Die Eisgrenze verläuft 
etwa von Gäsören über Falkensgrund nach 15sm 
westlich von Nahkiainen und von dort nach Süden. 
ın den südlichen Schären liegt dünnes Festeis, 
außerhalb davon treibt sehr lockeres dünnes Eis und 
Neueis. Schwedische Küste: In den nördlichen 
Schären 25-60 cm dickes Festeis. Außerhalb davon 
liegt nördlich der Linie Gäsören - Falkensgrund 
zusammenhängendes Eis bestehend aus 20-40cm 
dicken Schollen, dichtem Treibeis und dünnem Eis. 
Kleinere Gebiete mit 10-20cm dickem, ebenem Eis 
kommen zwischen Malören und Farstugrunden vor, 
ebenso wie entlang der Küste zwischen Skellefteä 
und Rödkallen. 
Voraussichtliche Eisentwicklung 
Die Eisbildung in der Bottenvik wird weiter andauern. 
Auch im östlichen Finnischen Meerbusen ist bei 
leichtem Dauerfrost Neueisbildung zu erwarten. Bei 
nur leichten Winden kommt es nur zu geringer 
Eisverdriftung

fast ice and very close drift ice. Farther out open ice 
and new ice is drifting up to Vaasa lighthouse. 
Swedish Coast: Mostly ice free or thin new ice. 
Bay of Bothnia 
Finnish Coast: In the northern inner archipelago 
30-50 cm thick fast ice. Off the fast ice there is a 
15nm wide lead to the south-west of Kemi-1 and 
subsequently there is 15-30 cm thick very close ice 
Jp to the latitude of Marjaniemi. The lead, covered 
with thin ice and new ice, runs further to the west 
of Oulu 1 and then southwards. Off Raahe there is 
1ew ice, but also heavy large floes are drifting in 
places. The ice edge runs approximately from 
Gäsören over Falkensgrund to 15nm west of 
Nahkiainen and then southwards. In the southern 
archipelago there is thin fast ice, farther off there is 
lhin very open ice and new ice. Swedish Coast: In 
the northern archipelago fast ice, 25-60 cm thick. 
Farther off and north of the line Gäsören - 
Falkensgrund there is consolidated ice consisting of 
alternating 20-40 cm thick vast floes, close drift ice 
and frozen thin ice. Between Malören and 
Farstugrunden as well as in the coastal zone 
between Skellefteä and Rödkallen there are minor 
areas of 10-20cm thick level ice. 
Expected Ice Development 
ice formation in the Bay of Bothnia will continue At 
.ight frost, new ice formation is to be expected in 
the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland, too. The 
winds will be generally weak so no substantial ice 
drift or ice pressure is expected.
