Tugs and barges are not assisted to Pärnu.
icebreaker: EVA-316 assists in the Pärnu Bay
Finland
icebreaker: ARPPE assists in the southern Lake Saimaa, Saimaa canal and in the Varkaus fairway.
OTSO and KONTIO assist in the northern Bay of Bothnia.
Vessels bound for Finnish ports and requiring icebreaker assistance shall, well in advance of entering ice-
covered waters, report to an icebreaker in accordance with instructions given in the daily ice report. In
addition, vessels bound for Gulf of Bothnia ports in which traffic restrictions apply shall, when passing
Svenska Björn, report their nationality, name, port of destination, ETA and speed to VTS Gävle on VHF
channel 84. This report can also be given directly by phone + 46 26 647 150 or +46 26 647 151. If
required, due to the ice conditions, the position for reporting can be transferred farther to the south.
Vessels in the Gulf of Finland of 300 GT or more are required to report to the GOFREP Traffic Centre.
A vessel stuck in ice must notify the icebreaker of its position without delay

Tow boat-barges are not assisted to St. Petersburg.
Icebreaker: SEMYAN DEZNEV and KARU assist low-powered

All ships entering harbours in the Gulf of Bothnia shall, when passing Svenska Björn (N 59°33’ E20°01’)
sontact the VTS Gävle on VHF channel 84.
