Heinrich Wilhelm Dove (* 6. Oktober 1803 in Legnica, Polen; † 4. April 1879 in Berlin) war ein deutscher Physiker und Meteorologe.
Dove gilt als Begründer der heutigen Wissenschaft der Meteorologie und der Wettervorhersage.

August Heinrich Petermann (* 18. April 1822 in Bleicherode;† 25.September 1878 in Gotha war einer der bekanntesten Geographen und Kartographen des 19. Jahrhunderts.
Er gründete die Zeitschrift Petermanns Mitteilungen. Diese erschien erstmals am 16. März 1855 iim Verlag Justus Perthes .
