47. Nlioul off’ Hold point.
Tlie Spanish Government has given No
tice that a shoal has lately been discovered
by the Spanish steam - vessel Constancia
off Bold point, East Coast of Palawan.
The shoal (Constancia shoal), the
general extent of which is unknown, had
3 1 2 fathoms on it, sand and coral, where
first sounded on, hut the depth increased to
11 fathoms about one mile to the N. W., and
again decreased from that depth in a W.S.W.
direction. The shoal part lies E. by S., 15
miles from Bold point, which places it in iat.
9° 587*" N., long. 119 u 25' East from
Greenwich.

Also, that a new apparatus has been fit
ted to the lighthouse at the entrance of the
Bio Pasig, Manila.
The light is now a fixed red light, and
in clear weather should be seen from a
distance of 9 miles.
The illuminating apparatus is dioptric or
by lenses, of the sixth order.

Durch den spanischen Dampfer „Con
stantia“ ist bei der Spitze Bold, an der Ost
küste von Palawan, eine Untiefe (Constancia
shoal) gefunden worden. Die vollständige
Ausdehnung derselben ist unbekannt; auf der
Stelle, wo zuerst gelothet wurde, befanden
sich 37« Faden Wasser, Sand und Corallen-
grund, die Tiefe nahm jedoch bis auf 11 Faden
zu, ungefähr 1 Seem. nach NW und von
hier aus in der Richtung WSW wieder ab.
Die flachste Stelle liegt OzS, 15 Seem. von
der Spitze Bold entfernt, in 9° 587«' Nord
Breite und 119° 25' Ost Länge von Greenw.

des Rio Pasig, Manila, ist ein neuer Apparat
angebracht, der jetzt ein festes, rothes
Feuer zeigt, das bei klarer Luft 9 Seem.
weit sichtbar ist.
