The Austrian Government has given No 
tice that, from the 20th day of July 1870, a 
fixed red light, 27 feet above the sea, will 
be exhibited from the lighthouse on Porer 
rock, to denote the position of the sunk rock 
lying to the southward of it. 
The light is visible through an arc of 11 ‘/a 
and its extremes pass 220 yards on either side 
of the shoal; in clear weather it should be 
seen from a distance of 5 or 6 miles.
