The Harbour Master at Port Elizabeth has 
given Notice, that from the 1st day of De 
cember 1m»8 the following alteration would 
take place in the light on Cape Recife, Al- 
goa bay. 
A ray of red light would be shown from 
the lighthouse between the bearings X. 39 
E. and N. 12 E. as a guide to mariners on 
approaching Roman rock. 
Directions. — Vessels bound for Algoa 
bay, after passing Cape Recife, should not 
com»* within the red ray of Cape Recife light 
until the Harbour light on the hill (which 
when lirst seen is red) is seen bearing X. \V\. 
but as the southern limit of the Harbour light 
passes only 2 cable** northward of R"inau 
rock, it is n*coininend«‘d that a course for the 
anchorage should not he shaped until the retl 
ray from the Harbour light is passed and 
the white light seen bearing X. W. by W.
